District Attorney Darcel D. Clark
Darcel Denise Clark became the 13th District Attorney for Bronx County on January 1, 2016. She is the first woman in that position and the first African-American woman to be a District Attorney in New York State. Previously, District Attorney Clark served as an Associate Justice for the NYS Supreme Court Appellate Division, First Department; a NYS Supreme Court Justice in the Bronx; and a Criminal Court Judge in Bronx and New York Counties. She also served as an Assistant District Attorney in the Bronx.
Acting District Attorney Eric Gonzalez
Eric Gonzalez was sworn in as Acting District Attorney in October of 2016 after the passing of District Attorney Kenneth P. Thompson. Prior to this appointment, Mr. Gonzalez served as Chief Assistant District Attorney, the first Latino to hold that position in Brooklyn. Mr. Gonzalez successfully guided the launch of several of District Attorney Thompson’s key initiatives, including the creation of the Conviction Review Unit and the office charging policy regarding the possession of marijuana.
District Attorney Cyrus R. Vance, Jr.
Cyrus R. Vance, Jr., was first inaugurated as the District Attorney of New York County on January 1, 2010. Over the following four years, Mr. Vance enhanced the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office as a national leader in criminal justice by expanding the offices expertise on an array of 21st century crimes, including identity theft, cybercrime, white-collar fraud, hate crimes, terrorism, domestic violence, human trafficking, and violent and gang-related crimes.
District Attorney Richard A. Brown
On June 1, 1991, Judge Richard A. Brown was appointed District Attorney of Queens County. He was elected to a full four-year term in November 1991 and re-elected six times. Under Judge Brown’s leadership, the office has attained an extraordinary reputation as one of the finest prosecutors' offices in the State. He previously served as Supervising Judge of the Brooklyn Criminal Court, Justice of the Supreme Court in Queens County, and as a member of the Appellate Division, Second Department.
District Attorney Michael E. McMahon
Michael E. McMahon was inaugurated as the District Attorney of Richmond County on January 1, 2016. He serves as the chief law enforcement officer on Staten Island. Upon taking office, Mr. McMahon made it a priority to increase the office’s ability to better prosecute and prevent crime by modernizing the office, bringing more resources to Staten Island’s criminal justice system, and increasing accessibility and strengthening community relations with law enforcement.
