PIX 11 News- New York State’s bail reform law doesn’t take effect until next week on Jan. 1, 2020, but judges started releasing criminal suspects back in November.
Under the new law, which was pushed by Governor Andrew Cuomo, 90 percent of criminal cases will have cash bail eliminated. That means defendants will be released from court, in 400-plus crime categories, to await trial at home.

Daily News- A speed-demon drug dealer with a reputation for high-speed getaways ran out of road Monday when cops and federal agents tracked him to a Bronx nightclub, authorities said.
Arfhy Santos, who goes by the street name “Coyote,” nearly ran over a cop in Times Square last year, and in August came within inches of mowing down a woman and her small dog during a getaway from a DEA task force on the Upper East Side, authorities said.

Daily News- A drug-dealing suspect who allegedly laughed off the death of a man who died overdosing on drugs sold by his crew was freed on bail Thursday — and praised the politicians who approved new bail laws a judge cited in letting him free.
“Cuomo for president!” Jose Jorge proclaimed in Spanish as he hustled out of Manhattan Supreme Court.
