Drug kingpin sentenced to 11 years in prison: $6.5 million “crystal meth” and heroin haul

Bridget G. Brennan, New York City’s Special Narcotics Prosecutor, announced today the sentencing of drug kingpin Jose Mauro Mota to 11 years in prison and five years post-release supervision for Operating as a Major Trafficker and 3 ½ years to 10 ½ years for Conspiracy in the Second Degree. Both prison terms are to run concurrently.

Record-breaking seizure: Over 70 kilograms of heroin, $2 million cash and firearm recovered in the Fieldston section of the Bronx

Brennan, New York City’s Special Narcotics Prosecutor announced the arrest of four members of a narcotics trafficking network and the seizure of over 70 kilograms of heroin (154 lbs.) worth up to $50 million, plus $2 million in cash and a firearm. The massive load of narcotics and cash was recovered from a vehicle and an apartment in the Fieldston section of the Bronx, near Horace Mann School and adjacent to Van Cortlandt Park. Heroin trafficking ring dismantled in the University Heights section of the Bronx: 15 arrests

Bridget G. Brennan, New York City’s Special Narcotics Prosecutor announced the arrests of 15 individuals on drug charges following an investigation that involved 10 sales of heroin to undercover officers for over $26,000 in the University Heights section of the Bronx. Officers also conducted a series of court authorized searches yesterday, uncovering a heroin packaging operation and seizing quantities of powder cocaine, crack-cocaine and oxycodone.

Five indicted in international narcotics and kidnapping conspiracy: Mexican source of supply

Bridget G. Brennan, New York City’s Special Narcotics Prosecutor announced the indictment of five members of an international drug trafficking ring that arranged for large shipments of narcotics to be transported from Mexico and sold in New York City and elsewhere in the Northeast. In connection with the long-term investigation, authorities seized over 13 kilograms of heroin (30 lbs.) worth millions of dollars on April 17, 2015 in Little Rock, Arkansas. The investigation also led to the recovery of more than half a kilogram of cocaine and $835,000 cash.

14 Charged in Drug Trafficking at Brooklyn’s Farragut Houses: Over 100 sales of narcotics, 3 firearms seized
