Ten Arrested in Staten Island Gang Takedown: Indictments Charge Heroin Trafficking and Shooting, Two Firearms Seized
New York City’s Special Narcotics Prosecutor Bridget G. Brennan announced the arrest and indictment of 10 individuals on Staten Island and in New Jersey as a result of a long-term investigation by the New York City Police Department’s (NYPD) Staten Island Gang Squad (SIGS). The indictment brought by the Office of the Special Narcotics Prosecutor centers on heroin trafficking, a shooting and weapons possession. The Richmond County District Attorney’s Office and the NYPD initiated the investigation.













Nine convicted in long-running scheme to smuggle cocaine from Puerto Rico to New York via the U.S. Mail
Bridget G. Brennan, New York City’s Special Narcotics Prosecutor, announced the convictions of nine members of a sophisticated trafficking ring that smuggled large quantities of cocaine from Puerto Rico to New York City in U.S. Postal Service packages, and used a Bronx daycare center as a cover for drug crimes. The head of the drug ring, JUAN VALDEZ, and his top lieutenants pled guilty to felony drug charges and were sentenced to prison.













Alex Crandon Sentenced to 53 1/3 Years to Life in Prison for Role in “GS9” Gang Warfare

Brennan, New York City’s Special Narcotics Prosecutor, announced the sentencing of Alex Crandon, 22, to 53 1/3 years to life in prison for his role in gang warfare that extended from New York City to Miami, and involved murder and multiple attempted murders between January 2013 and October 2014.













Rashid Derissant Sentenced to 98 1/3 Years to Life in Prison for Role in “GS9” Gang Warfare in New York City and Miami

Brennan, New York City’s Special Narcotics Prosecutor, announced the sentencing of Rashid Derissant, 24, to 98 1/3 years to life in prison for his role in gang warfare that extended from New York City to Miami, and involved murder and multiple attempted murders between January 2013 and October 2014.













Two Members of Violent Street Gang GS9 Convicted of Murder and Attempted Murder, Conspiracy, and Other Crimes
Bridget G. Brennan, New York City’s Special Narcotics Prosecutor, announced that a jury has convicted Rashid Derissant and Alex Crandon for the February 2013 murder of a 19-year-old rival gang member in Brooklyn, and numerous acts of violence in New York City and Miami Beach. The conspiracy began with crack dealing in Brooklyn, spanned nearly two years, and was connected to the Crip gang known as “GS9.”













Heroin packaging operation dismantled in Inwood: Over $5 million in heroin seized, 10 arrests
Bridget G. Brennan, New York City’s Special Narcotics Prosecutor announced the arrests of 10 members of a major drug trafficking operation in the Inwood section of Manhattan. Approximately 10 kilograms of heroin (22 lbs.), including five kilograms of powdered heroin and 150,000 individual dose glassine envelopes were seized in a court authorized search of an apartment at 10 Park Terrace East, Apt. 4D.













Father and son charged with running prescription drug trafficking and forgery ring
Bridget G. Brennan, New York City’s Special Narcotics Prosecutor announced the indictment and arrests of accused drug kingpin Nelson Qeuzada Sr. and his son Riquelvin Quezada for running a prescription drug trafficking ring that forged and filled prescriptions for approximately $1.5 million in oxycodone, a highly addictive opioid painkiller.













Truck with 100 lbs of heroin seized: Drugs worth at least $14 million
Bridget G. Brennan, New York City’s Special Narcotics Prosecutor announced the arrest of two men charged with transporting approximately 100 pounds of heroin hidden within vehicle parts within New York City. Heroin concealed in axle casings and drive shaft.













Two Colombian drug traffickers charged with smuggling narcotics to New York aboard famed Spanish navy ship
Bridget G. Brennan, New York City’s Special Narcotics Prosecutor announced the arrest of two alleged Colombian drug traffickers who conspired to smuggle multi-kilogram quantities of heroin and cocaine to New York City aboard the emblematic Royal Spanish Navy training vessel, the Juan Sebastian de Elcano, between April and May of 2014.













Auditor employed by NYC Department of Correction arrested for cocaine sales to undercover officer
New York City’s Special Narcotics Prosecutor Bridget G. Brennan announced the arrest of Ronald Germain, an auditor employed by the City of New York Department of Correction (DOC) in connection with four sales of cocaine. Germain’s girlfriend Maite Mathelier was also charged.
