
Over 65 pounds of heroin recovered from truck axle in Croton-on Hudson, N.Y.: Two arrested
Bridget G. Brennan, New York City’s Special Narcotics Prosecutor announced the arrest of two men charged with possessing at least 30 kilograms of heroin (over 65 lbs.) hidden in the axle of a truck’s trailer. The defendants were intending to sell the heroin for up to $2.3 million wholesale to distributors in New York City, Long Island and across the Northeast. When repackaged for street level distribution the shipment would have yielded well over half a million individual doses of heroin.













Former Physician Indicted for Selling Amphetamine Diet Pills to Patients After Losing Medical License
Bridget G. Brennan, New York City’s Special Narcotics Prosecutor announced the indictment and arrest of Steven Bernhard, a former practitioner of osteopathic medicine, for selling amphetamine diet pills to patients long after his medical license was revoked for dangerous prescribing practices. The indictment includes charges related to a 65-year old female patient with a history of heart disease who died while taking amphetamine pills obtained from the former doctor.

New York City’s Special Narcotics Prosecutor Bridget G. Brennan announced the indictment and arrest of nine individuals in connection with sales of cocaine at Sin City Cabaret, a gentlemen’s club located at 2520 Park Avenue in the Mott Haven section of the Bronx.

Brennan, New York City’s Special Narcotics Prosecutor announced the seizure of 52 kilograms of cocaine found concealed in fake Latin American root vegetables from a basement apartment in the Soundview section of the Bronx. The apartment is located across the street from P.S. 196, an elementary school, and close to two other schools: P.S. 691, also called Bronx Little School, and The Cinema School, a public high school. Brennan announced the seizure of 64 kilograms of packaged heroin (140 lbs.) from a single-family private residence located in the University Heights section of the Bronx. New York City’s Special Narcotics Prosecutor Bridget G. Brennan announced the arrest and indictment of 10 individuals on Staten Island and in New Jersey as a result of a long-term investigation by the New York City Police Department’s (NYPD) Staten Island Gang Squad (SIGS). The indictment brought by the Office of the Special Narcotics Prosecutor centers on heroin trafficking, a shooting and weapons possession. The Richmond County District Attorney’s Office and the NYPD initiated the investigation.













Nine convicted in long-running scheme to smuggle cocaine from Puerto Rico to New York via the U.S. Mail

Brennan, New York City’s Special Narcotics Prosecutor, announced the convictions of nine members of a sophisticated trafficking ring that smuggled large quantities of cocaine from Puerto Rico to New York City in U.S. Postal Service packages, and used a Bronx daycare center as a cover for drug crimes. The head of the drug ring, JUAN VALDEZ, and his top lieutenants pled guilty to felony drug charges and were sentenced to prison.

Two Members of Violent Street Gang GS9 Convicted of Murder and Attempted Murder, Conspiracy, and Other Crimes

Brennan, New York City’s Special Narcotics Prosecutor, announced that a jury has convicted Rashid Derissant and Alex Crandon for the February 2013 murder of a 19-year-old rival gang member in Brooklyn, and numerous acts of violence in New York City and Miami Beach. The conspiracy began with crack dealing in Brooklyn, spanned nearly two years, and was connected to the Crip gang known as “GS9.”













Heroin packaging operation dismantled in Inwood: Over $5 million in heroin seized, 10 arrests
Bridget G. Brennan, New York City’s Special Narcotics Prosecutor announced the arrests of 10 members of a major drug trafficking operation in the Inwood section of Manhattan. Approximately 10 kilograms of heroin (22 lbs.), including five kilograms of powdered heroin and 150,000 individual dose glassine envelopes were seized in a court authorized search of an apartment at 10 Park Terrace East, Apt. 4D.
