PAL Webster Center Cooking Club Ribbon Cutting: New Cooking Equipment for Youth in the Bronx

Bridget G. Brennan, New York City’s Special Narcotics Prosecutor, and Carlos Velazquez, Executive
Director of New York City’s Police Athletic League (PAL), announced a ribbon cutting at the Webster
Center Cooking Club today at 4 p.m. The Cooking Club, operated by PAL, is the recipient of a new stove to enhance the club’s culinary activities for children. The new equipment is sponsored by the  Office of the Special Narcotics Prosecutor (SNP). The PAL Webster Center is located at 2255 Webster Avenue in the Fordham Heights neighborhood of the Bronx.

Three Charged in Firearm and Narcotic Sales: 27 Guns, Cocaine

A long-term investigation disrupted a gun and narcotic trafficking network in the Bronx, and resulted in the seizure of 27 guns, as well as more than 400 grams of cocaine (nearly a pound). Two brothers and a third individual are charged in an indictment filed by the Office of the Special Narcotics Prosecutor (SNP).

Today, National Fentanyl Awareness Day, underscores a deadly public health crisis afflicting the nation, New York City and the Bronx. Fentanyl and other synthetic drugs, such as xylazine, are widely distributed in mixtures and quantities that significantly raise the risk of overdose deaths. In New York City, Bronx County has the highest rate of overdose deaths, and is also a main distribution hub for illegal drugs.

Approximately 300,000 Fentanyl Pills and Five Kilograms of Powdered Fentanyl Recovered from Vehicle’s Gas Tank

A short-term investigation into fentanyl trafficking in New York City resulted in the seizure of approximately 300,000 fake oxycodone pills containing fentanyl, plus five kilograms of powdered fentanyl (over 11 pounds), from a red Ford Expedition stopped in the Bronx.

Nine Charged Following Investigation into Manufacturing and Interstate Trafficking of Counterfeit Oxycodone Pills Containing Fentanyl

Following a long-term wiretap investigation into the manufacturing and interstate trafficking of counterfeit oxycodone pills containing fentanyl, nine individuals were indicted on charges filed by the Office of the Special Narcotics Prosecutor (SNP) in Manhattan Supreme Court. The charges stem from narcotics-related activity that allegedly occurred in Manhattan, the Bronx, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island. The investigation resulted in the seizure of over 26,000 pills containing fentanyl; 2 kilograms of powdered fentanyl; nearly 50,000 pills, weighing about 41 pounds, containing methamphetamine; and 3 kilograms of powdered cocaine. The estimated street value of the drugs seized is approximately $2.5 million.

An indictment filed by the Office of the Special Narcotics Prosecutor charges ERIC HOOKS in connection with the seizure of approximately 8 kilograms of powdered fentanyl (over 17 pounds) and up to 10,000 counterfeit pills allegedly containing fentanyl from a vehicle and an apartment in the Bronx.

Queens Man Indicted in Connection with Seizure of Approximately $300,000 in Cocaine during Citywide Drug Trafficking Investigation

An indictment filed by the Office of the Special Narcotics Prosecutor charges REYNALDO ALMONTE in connection with the seizure of approximately 6 kilograms of cocaine (over 13 pounds) and more than $50,000 cash from his burgundy Nissan sports car. ALMONTE was arrested after law enforcement tracked his vehicle from Queens to the Bronx on November 28, 2022.

Queens Man Sentenced on Weapons and Narcotics Charges after Aiming Assault Rifle at NYPD Detective

Today in Manhattan Supreme Court, JULIN LIRIANO was sentenced to prison for possessing narcotics and three loaded guns, including an assault rifle that he pointed at a New York City Police Department (NYPD) detective conducting surveillance on a residential street in Middle Village, Queens. LIRIANO previously pleaded guilty to Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree and Menacing in the Second Degree.

Approximately 32,000 Fentanyl Pills Seized at JFK Airport Hotel: Two Men from California Arrested

A multi-month investigation of fentanyl trafficking into New York City resulted in the seizure of approximately 32,000 fentanyl pills in the vicinity of a hotel near John F. Kennedy International Airport in Queens, and the arrest of two individuals. The pills carry an estimated street value of up to $1 million.
